How to take pictures of fireworks

I’m guilty of not thinking enough when it comes time to take a picture of fireworks. Sure, you need a faster lens and a different perspective to focus on the people, the scene or how the fireworks change the environment.

I was blown away by Thomas Prior’s photos this 4th of July 2011.
